Mobile Homes in LAKE ALFRED, FL at Central Florida’s # 1 Mobile Home Marketplace.
Lake Alfred is a small, quiet community in north-central Polk County, about 7 miles from I-4, nestled between rolling hills filled with fruit orchards. It is part of the Lakeland–Winter Haven Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town lies along U.S. 17/92, which runs north/south through the center of town.
THE COMMUNITY KNOWN TODAY as Lake Alfred was first settled as a Military outpost, Fort Cummings, in the United States Territory of Florida in 1839. The Fort was established as one of many through Florida to allow for protection from Indian attacks. The name Lake Alfred was adopted in 1913, and was taken from the nearest large lake, named for Alfred Parslow, who came to Florida in 1877 and obtained a charter to build the Jacksonville, Tampa and Key West Railroad.
